LCI Collections Catalog

Guidelines for Librarians and Resource Coordinators
If you have questions about these guidelines, please contact us at rc@lincolncenter.org.

Organization of the LCI Collections Catalog
The titles described here include the best materials that we can suggest to:

  • support your investigation into aesthetic education (practice, philosophy, psychology);
  • further your knowledge about the performing arts;
  • build understanding about the contexts of the specific works of art that you study each year.

It is your responsibility to select materials that will assist you in reaching these goals.

The catalog is organized according to various headings related to works of art under study, various arts disciplines, or the philosophy and practice of aesthetic education. If you check the right-hand column of the search screen page, you will see underlined links that will directly capture materials according to specific categories. You may also customize your search by using one or more of the fields in the center of the screen or on the advanced search screen page.

Guidelines

  1. The resources you order must be related to the LCI work scheduled for next year at your institution or to the philosophy and practice of aesthetic education. This includes: a) resources related to the works of art that students at your institution will be studying; b) resources listed under "Reference" on the right side of the search screen; c) those listed under "Aesthetic Education" or those listed under "General Arts Materials for Kids."
  2. Exceptions to No. 1: You can request an exception to the restrictions listed in No. 1 by sending an email to rc@lincolncenter.org that states which materials you wish to use and why you feel they relate to the LCI work scheduled for next year or to aesthetic education.
  3. You can order materials that are not listed in our database by sending an email to rc@lincolncenter.org that describes why you feel they relate to the LCI work scheduled for next year or to aesthetic education.
  4. Policy on ordering multiple copies: You are allowed to spend up to 25% of your budget on acquisition of multiple copies of individual resources. This is not a requirement, but an option. In figuring this amount, do not include the price of the first copy of a given resource. One of the primary goals of the LCI Collections program is to facilitate development of a broad and varied library of resources, and the multiple copies guideline helps assure that an institution's collection develops this kind of depth and richness.
  5. Age appropriateness: Print materials are designated as appropriate for adults, or for kids of particular grade levels. Where available, motion picture ratings are provided. However, it is your responsibility to preview any materials not specifically designated as appropriate for your students' age group prior to providing them access.
  6. Your deadline is June 1.

    After that date your account will be disabled.

     Although you can add items to your shopping cart throughout the ordering period, you may only place one order per year through our system.
  7. If you have questions about these guidelines, about your Username or Password, or about your budget, please contact us at rc@lincolncenter.org.

This system is also designed for teachers and professors at your institution who need to familiarize themselves with the resources, either to advise you prior to your placing the resources order for your institution, or so that they can easily find descriptions of available items as they work with teaching artists and their students during the school year. Once your order has been finalized, educators and teaching artists will also be able to check what items have been ordered for your institution for the year.

You are welcome to link the LCI Collections Catalog to your school's Web page or library catalog.
